
Overview
Use the following procedures to help adjust your Lexmark multifunction color printers CX510, CX410, CX310, or XC2132 if the print quality they generate from their scan or copy functions looks significantly different than the original document.

How to perform Auto Color Adjust for printing
NOTE: If the printer is not connected to the network, please proceed to the last section – How to manually set up the Copy settings.

How to load the Color Adjust Copy and Scan Settings File
To automatically adjust the color balance and darkness for Copy, as well as any other scan modes (e.g., Scan to USB, Scan to Email, Fax, Scan to Document, and Scan to FTP), you may download and install the Color Adjust Copy and Scan (.ufc) file. Proceed with the following steps to download and install the file.
NOTES:
- You only have to perform the steps one time; the default settings will be changed and saved in non-volatile memory (i.e., NVRAM).
- If the printer is not connected to the network, please proceed to the last section – How to manually set up the Copy settings.

7 | The window should show "File Received" if the import was successful. You may click Return to go back to the Home screen. | |

How to manually adjust the color settings using Scan To Network
If you have the Scan To Network application configured, you can use it to manually adjust the color settings.

2 | In the printer's EWS, navigate through: Settings > Apps > Apps Management > Scan To Network > Configure > (Select the scan destination you want to change). | No Image |
3 | Set the following: - Darkness = 4
- Color = On
- Content = Text/Photo

How to manually set up the color balance using the control panel
If the printer is not connected to the network (i.e., the printer is connected via USB only, or used as a standalone copier), the subsequent procedures will guide you through the manual Copy settings set-up using the printer’s Control panel.
NOTES:
- The CX310, CX410 and CX510/XC2132 each have a different control panel.
- The images shown in the subsequent steps use the CX510 control panel but is also applicable to CX410.
- No way exists to set up color balance in the CX310 control panel; therefore, steps involving network connection as discussed above, is required.
To manually set the correct copy/scan settings to improve color reproduction, the DARKNESS setting needs to be 1-Click lighter (number 4 instead of 5). To go lighter, click the minus sign. The image below shows the correct darkness setting.

Follow the position of the dot as pointed to by the red arrow in the image to achieve optimal darkness settings. |
In addition, the COLOR BALANCE settings need to be changed from default. The color balance has three settings: CYAN-RED, MAGENTA-GREEN and YELLOW-BLUE. Use the right arrow from the image above to get to Advanced Imaging, select COLOR BALANCE, and then follow the steps below.

1 | The CYAN-RED needs to be 2-Clicks toward the RED from center (i.e., two clicks to the right). |
2 | The MAGENTA-GREEN needs 1-Click toward MAGENTA from center (i.e., one click left). |
3 | The YELLOW-BLUE needs 1-Click toward YELLOW from center (i.e., one click left). Note: The color balance final setting should be as shown in the image below. |
4 | Press the green check mark in the lower-right corner to submit the changes. |
After the above procedure, continue with these steps to permanently set the copy/scan darkness settings and color balance.

5 | Set the DARKNESS to 4, which is one press on the left button, and then press SUBMIT. | |
6 | Press the COLOR BALANCE setting. | |
7 | Set Color Balance settings as follows: - CYAN-RED two press to the right
- MAGENTA-GREEN one press to the left
- YELLOW-BLUE one press to the left
Press SUBMIT. | |
8 | The correct color balance setting should look like the right-hand image. | |
