Affected products

Any compatible MFP with LPM Serverless Print Release v.1.0 installed.

Suggested checks

First, check if any client PCs are online and reachable by the printer when you attempt to release print jobs.

Next, check the Local Security Policy on affected clients.

To do this:

  1. Log into the computer as administrator with full administrator privileges.

  2. Go to Start or (Windows > Run).

  3. Type secpol.msc to open Local Security Policy.

  4. Click Ok.

  5. Under Security Settings, navigate to Local Policies > Use Rights Assignment.

  6. Double click on the policy "Access this computer from the network" as illustrated below.

Click here to see sample image.

  7. Look at the policy to determine if User Rights are causing this problem.

Non-default values for this policy, for example:

  • Administrators (only)

The security policy is suspect.

See Suggested actions immediately below.

Default (expected) values set for this policy, for example:

  • Administrators
  • Backup Operators
  • Everyone
  • Users

The security policy is not preventing the eSF app from retrieving jobs sent from this client.

Consider other firewall, network, or configuration issues.

Suggested actions

If problem persists...

  1. Set the policy back to its default value. These default values are listed in the "Explain" tab of the policy.

  2. Add only the necessary groups/users to the policy that are required for the eSF to communicate with the client.

Important! The service account user or a group containing it would need to be added to this policy, as well as all users using client print release on the client, or a group containing all users that use client print release on the client.

Contact your next level of support or contact Lexmark Technical Support.

NOTE: If this policy is managed by your domain’s group policy settings, any change to this client policy would need to be made at the domain/group policy level. Failure to do so will cause any client changes to be overwritten the next time the group policy is pulled down.

Misconfigured security policies is one contributor to connection failures involving the Print Management client.
