|Is your printer connected to a router?
Connect your device to a router and enable the router's firewall. Contact your router manufacturer if you need help connecting the printer and enabling the firewall.

A firewall will help protect or shield your device from external access over the Internet.
Your printer is connected to a router with an enabled firewall
Check whether your router's DMZ is enabled and your printer's IP address/hostname is configured as a DMZ host. If so, then your printer can be accessible to anyone on the Internet. Contact your router manufacturer should you need help removing your printer from the DMZ.
A network connected printer/MFP that is not behind a firewall, or is in a DMZ, is not secured and potentially exposed to direct access from an unauthorized user.
