Solution
Adjusting the fax tone volume
Turn OFF Quiet Mode if it was turned ON.
Press Menus button at the lower right-hand corner of the control panel.
Open Menus > Settings > General Settings.
Scroll down and select Quiet Mode.
Select Off and press ?.
Adjust the fax tone volume.
Press Menus button at the lower right-hand corner of the control panel.
Open Menus > Settings > Fax Settings > Analog Fax Setup.
Scroll downand select Speaker Settings.
Determine your preferred settings:

Turn OFF all fax tones | Send and receive | Always Off | Off |
Reduce the occurrence and audible level of fax tones | Send and receive | On until connected | On with Speaker Volume set to Low Off if you do not require audible notification of an incoming fax. |
Speaker and ringer settings explained
Speaker Mode = Fax sounds (sending fax)
Setting | Effect |
---|
Always Off | No sound when sending a fax |
On until Connected | Fax sound heard until shortly after fax transmission begins |
Always On | Fax sound heard throughout the duration of the fax job For example, you will hear a dial tone, ringing, people answering if wrong number, fax machines establishing connection and actual fax transmission sounds. |
Ringer Volume = Ringing volume (receiving fax)
Setting | Effect |
---|
Off | Disables ringer, hence, recipient will not be notified of incoming fax |
On | Loud ringing until fax transmission begins For example, you will hear rings until a successful connection is established. |
Speaker Volume = Speaker settings (sending fax)
Setting | Effect |
---|
Low | Semi-loud fax sound level |
High | Loud fax sound level |
Note: Requires that speaker mode not be turned off.
