Bands of darker print are found in the process direction (across Letter or A4 portrait pages). See sample printout below.
Possible cause
This print defect is possibly caused by a contaminated corona wire.
NOTE: The corona wire is a component of the charger or charge roller assembly inside the Imaging Unit.
Suggested remedy
The printer has several built-in self-cleaning methods. This includes the corona wire cleaner. It’s important to clean the corona wire after each installation of the maintenance kit, toner cartridge, or waste toner box. The procedure laid out below describes the proper methods for cleaning the corona wire charger.
How to clean the Corona Charger

1 | Open the bottom front door. | |
2 | Remove the waste toner bottle. | |
3 | Locate the white tab. | |
4 | Gently pull the tab until it stops, and then slowly slide it back into place. Repeat three times. | |
5 | Reinstall the waste toner bottle. | |
