Lexmark MS911 & MX91x ? The Printer Posts `Remove Paper From Bin 2? Even If Bin 2 Is Empty

What you will see

After installing a standard or booklet finisher in a Lexmark MS911 or MX91x, the printer posts an intervention message telling you to 'Remove paper from Bin 2' although Bin 2 is empty.

Possible cause

This message might occur due to inappropriate unpacking of the finisher, particularly if the device was lifted from the box using its Exit Bin mounting plate.

Proper unpacking of the finisher

The standard or booklet finisher should not be removed from its packaging by pulling on its Exit Bin mounting plate.
NOTE:
A warning sign is posted on the mounting plate to inform users not to utilize it as a handle when unpacking the finisher. However, early releases of these devices may not contain this precaution.

The Exit Bin mounting plate, if unintentionally used as a handle for unpacking, has a tendency of being pulled all the way up to the top of the finisher, as shown in the left-hand image below. Once installed, this will cause the finisher to report "Remove paper from Bin 2" due to the plate being out of position.

If this is already the case, please do not hesitate to contact Lexmark Technical Support because a servicer is necessary to adjust the plate in its correct position (middle), such as that shown in the right-hand image below.
