Disabling and enabling primary functions/features via Initial Setup Wizard and the effects on visible home screen icons

Issue description

The first time the printer is turned on, you are required to run the Initial Setup Wizard. This wizard is designed to configure the following:

  • Language
  • Country
  • Time zone
  • Primary functions
  • Additional functions

Primary and Additional functions

During the initial setup is the selection of Primary or Additional Button functions, these function icons are viewable on the printer Home' screen:

Primary (All Enabled out of box by default)Additional "Home" screen buttons

  • Fax
  • E-mail
  • FTP
  • Flash Drive Print
  • Flash Drive Scan
  • Flash Drive Firmware Updates
  • Use Profiles
  • Bookmarks
  • Change Language

  • FTP shortcuts
  • Jobs by user
  • Profiles
  • USB Drive

Solution

  1. From the control panel, select Menus > Settings > General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Select Yes > Submit, or from the Optional embedded web server: Settings > General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Submit.

  2. Reboot or turn the MFP off and on.

  3. Follow setup steps through Language, Country, Time Zone until you reach Functions to Enable.

  4. Place or remove a checkmark next to the primary functions of interest.

    Note:  If you remove a function, its corresponding LCD icon is removed.

  5. Click Continue and repeat the Step 4 for the additional home buttons.

  6. Click Continue to finish the initial setup.

Note:  You must turn the device off and on a second time to re-establish your embedded solution applications.
