Lexmark CX/CS8xx and XC/Cxxxx: Troubleshooting a Paper Jam, Print Quality, and Premature Life Warning Issue Involving the Transfer Roller

Single-Function: CS820, CS827 and C6160

Multifunction: CX820, CX825, CX827, CX860, XC6152, XC6153, XC8155, XC8160 and XC8163

This article provides troubleshooting steps for the following issues:

• Light printing

• Paper jams near the transfer roller

• Transfer rollers that are worn out and sometimes become stuck due to a missing loading feature.

Refer to the following steps when any of the issues described in the Overview section transpire.

1. Power the printer Off and open door B.Important! The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.

   



2. Remove the roller as shown in the image below:

   



3. Check the transfer roller for parts that may seem damaged or that are missing.

   • If the transfer roller has no issues, proceed to Step 4.

   • If the transfer roller is worn out and missing some parts, proceed to Step 6.



4. Re-install the transfer roller, close door B and power the printer On.



5. Perform a test print and check if the printouts are still light and whether paper jams still occur.
