Lexmark CX8xx and XCxxxx: A Box Color or Shading Effect Around Embedded Images Within Microsoft PowerPoint

Affected Products:

Multifunction: CX820, CX825, CX827, CX860, XC6152, XC6153, XC8155, XC8160 and XC8163

Application: Microsoft Power Point

Issue Description:

When printing imageswithin 'Microsoft PowerPoint', a box surrounding embedded images that differs in color or shade from the background.

Solution:

  1. Access the printer's embedded web server; i.e., http://printer's_IP_Address.

  2. Under Settings, click Print.

  3. Under Quality, click Advanced Imaging.

  1. Under Color correction, select Manual.

  2. Set RGBImage, Text and Graphics to sRGB Vivid.

Note:

If necessary, toggle between all sRGB Display and all sRGB Vivid to compare print output. Results may vary based on the source image and background characteristics within Microsoft's PowerPoint application.

Explanation:

By design, the default color table for images (sRGB Display) differs from that used for the text and graphics (sRGB Vivid). As such, images may show up a slightly different color or shade from the background graphic object. In this example, the differing settings caused a different shade of the same color.

Adjusting the defaults to use the same color table for images, text, and graphics can alleviate this issue; or for one job only, you can optionally change these equivalent settings in the driver.
