Card Copy App Help Resources and Suggested Troubleshooting Tips

Overview

This eSF app enables users to scan both sides of a wallet-sized card (e.g., insurance card, driver's license, etc.) and print them on one page, e-mail them as a TIFF, PDF, or JPEG file, or save them to a shared network folder.

Usability

  • Can be used on: - different supported Languages - during low power - single or multiple card and able to print, Send to Email, Send to Network or any combination of print, email and network
  • Can be configured through embedded webserver (EWS) page and printer control panel
  • For user with disabilities, use Card Copy features and it is in 508 compliant.

NOTE: This application does not require a license to run.

Features

  • Single and Multiple Card
    • Single Card
      • User can place single card, configure the Scan settings and outputs.
    • Multiple Card
      • It requires a Hard Disk to enable this function.
      • User can place multiple card in the scanner.
      • User is required to follow the instruction in placing the cards in the scanner.
  • Copy/Printing - User can copy or print the cards.
  • Send to Email - User can email the scanned cards in supported file format [ TIF, JPG, PDF ]. - E-mail settings can be configured in EWS page.
  • Sent to Network Share - User can send the scanned cards to network shared in supported file format [ TIF, JPG, PDF ]. - Network share settings can be configured in EWS page.

Steps to Reproduce

Pre-Conditions:

  • Enable Copy only in Card Copy
  • Add user in Local Account with Admin Permission Groups
  • Admin group Access Controls should be enabled (checked)
  1. Open printer EWS.

  2. Uncheck all Function Access in Security-> Public->Manage Permissions -> Access Controls

  3. Click Card Copy in the control panel, log-in using the user ID created in the Preconditions.

  4. Click Scan in Card Copy and follow succeeding user interface then observe.

Note: This applies only to CX860 printer models.

No printing will happen.

Card Copy uses port 9100 to print, thus printing will not happen. The application needs to implement print service in order to add users in the print job and continue to print. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.

  1. Go to the printer EWS and configure a network location for Card Copy.

  2. Launch Card Copy in the control panel.

  3. Click on the Network tab on the left.

  4. Enable Network by selecting "ON".

  5. Observe the printer.

Note: This applies only to CX725 printer model.

No network share information on where the scanned document will be routed.

The application will implement a network address to be configurable in the user interface. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.

  1. Change the Language to Traditional Chinese.

  2. Go to Card Copy

  3. Then go to Scan Settings.

Note: This applies to CX820, CX825, CX860, and CX725 printer models.

Garbage characters translation for Preset string

This is a translations issue for Trad Chinese on the PRESET label. Should be an encoding issue. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.

  1. Click Card Copy in the control panel.

  2. Select E-mail.

  3. Observe the printer.

Note: This applies only to CX860 printer models.

There is no option on Card Copy to use address book look up.

The current user interface design does not contain address book lookup. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.

  1. Configure Card Copy settings from EWS. Make sure that display icon is checked.

  2. Apply settings.

  3. Place card on device flatbed.

  4. Press Card Copy in the control panel.

  5. Make changes on scan/copy/network settings.

  6. Start scan.

  7. Click OK when scan is completed and you will be directed back to the previous screen.

  8. Notice the scan/copy/network settings.

Note: This applies only to CX860 printer models.

Scan/Copy/Network Setting values are reset.

When you complete a Card Copy job, the issue is that the app resets it to default values. The better user experience would have been to retain the last settings. The app should only reset to defaults when the app is relaunched. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.

Pre-Conditions:

  • Simulate Tray Missing or Out of Paper

1. Remove Tray or remove paper on tray. 2. Perform Card Copy. 3. Observe the printer

Note: This applies to CX820, CX825, CX860, and CX725 printer models.

"Tray 1 is missing" and "Load Paper" does not appear.

The application currently does not prompt for tray missing or load paper error message. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.

Pre-Conditions:

  • From EWS the 3 output options were selected(copy,email,network share). Network share folder configuration or destination were wrongly configured(design to fail) to simulate unreachable destinations such as on cases like originally shared destinations were modified or changed or unshared.
  1. Press Card Copy in the control panel.

  2. Select the scan button.

  3. Observe the printer.

Note: This applies only to CX725 printer model.

"Network Destination has not been configured correctly on this MFP; please contact your system administrator ." error appears.

The current design is that if one the function was not properly set, it will not perform the said functionality. The fix will be an error will prompt that explain why it was not working and will not halt the scanning. To be fixed in future releases. Please contact Lexmark 3rd Level Support.
