During scanner operation, whether it be the scanner calibrating on power-up, or making scans or copies, an 800.00 error code can appear with a blue background on the printer home screen.
Power the printer Off for at least one minute.
Power the printer On and check if the issue persists.
Should the issue persist, please refer to the next section of this document.
If the issue persists, search for more information related to this issue or contact support for further assistance.
The most common root cause of this issue is the contamination of the cable contacts between the scanner and the controller board. When the contamination builds up it will NOT allow the controller board to ‘talk’ to the scanner, so it reports it as missing.
There are two cables involved; the Gray and Black HDMI cables that connect in the automatic document feeder (ADF) at the motor driver card (MDC).
For remote fix opportunity, go through the steps in the Solution section if the customer has not already done so.
For this type of error, the only method that could capture the Event Log is via the embedded web server (EWS).
Remove the four screws (A), then remove the ADF rear cover access is granted to the HDMI connectors.
Carefully unplug the HDMI connectors (B) (one Gray, one Black), and plug it back in.
Power the printer back On and perform a print test and check if the issue persists.
Should the issue persist, gather the event log from the printer.
Note: For this type of error, the only method that could capture the Event Log is via the embedded web server (EWS).
The issues with the scanner communication are mainly with the HDMI connection at the MDC card. However, they could be due to the connection at the system card or the cables themselves.
This can be resolved by reinstalling the HDMI connectors at the controller boards' end.
If the issue persists, replace the Cable Pack.
