Additional information

Directory paths (folder address)

Three possible formats:

  • * \\servername only, or IP Address only, or no address
  • \\servername\sharename
  • \\servername\sharename\directory folder\...
  • *Click here for further explanation and information regarding Directory Services.

servername – Network ID, host name, or IP address to the shared folder.

sharename – Name of the shared directory or folder name.

directory – Any directory folder below the shared directory.

Note:  An option to add a directory folder at runtime is available if it is configured to allow users to create directories.

Authentication types

These options allow the application to authenticate the user with the share:

  1. Guest – No security

  2. Use MFP's authentication credentials:

The application uses the MFP's authentication credentials to gain access to the share.

  3. Prompt for username and password

The application displays a runtime prompt when the destination shortcut is selected. Entry of the correct username and password is required for access to the share.

  4. Use static username and password

The administrator knows the username and password to the share and wants all users to have access to the destination.
