Printer Configuration Agent failed to enroll due to incorrect time on the printer

Issue description

When enrolling a printer to the Lexmark Cloud Fleet Management app if the printer’s date and time are incorrect, the printer will fail to enroll. The Printer Enrollment Tool will post the following error message.

A secure connection between the printer and Cloud Fleet Management cannot be established because the printer's date and time are incorrect.

Solution

There are two methods to fix the issue:

  • Method 1:
    • Configure the printer with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. (Preferred Solution). It is best to configure the printer’s date and time by enabling the use of a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.
    • Note:  NTP servers are usually available from domain servers. Publicly-available NTP servers can be found through a web search.

    • Access the printer’s Date and Time settings from the embedded web server.
    • Select the Enable NTP option.
    • Enter the IP address or URL of a known NTP server.
  • Method 2:
