Overview:
This article provides an example walk-thru procedure for configuring the Google Drive app and it offers some suggestions for common connection failures.
Before You Begin:
Verify the device has a
HDD
before downloading and installing
Google Drive
App.
Obtain the printer's IP address so you can access the printer's EWS, i.e., http://printer_IP_Address.
Verify that you know your username, e-mail address and password to your established Google account.
Creating a Local Account and Assigning Permissions
Create a Local Account. EWS path: Settings > Security> Local Accounts > User Name/ Password.
Enter User information.
This should include: Name
Username (e.g., lxksoftware)
E-mail
Password
Confirm password
Set Access Controls by

emoving the checkmark for Google Drive to set access controlto public. EWS path: Settings > Security> Manage Permissions > Apps > Google Drive. Allow access to the Google Drive app on your local account group permissions (in this example =
Admin)
Navigate to Settings > Security > Manage > Groups/Permissions.
Double-click Admin.
Confirm
or place a checkmark next to Google Drive.
Login to the printer using your Local Account, and continue to the next section that describes registering the device with Google.

Initiating device registration for Google Drive:
After logging into the MFP with your Local Account, open Google Drive.
Register your Google account to the printer.
Choose to send the instructions via e-mail or print them.
Register this printer with your Google account.
Follow the link, e.g., https://www.google.com/device, and where it says, "Enter the code displayed on your device", type in the code seen inStep 2, and then click Next.
Again, login to the printer using your local account, open Google Drive and get started.

Connection Failures:
If User is unable to log in to the app, with a Google Drive message that says, "Authentication Failed," then the Access Control may be applied to the app. Confirm this is unchecked as seen in
Step 3above.
If User is unable to log in or launch the app, with a message that says, "Login Failed. Please re-enter you credentials," then:
Verify the correct user username and password login credentials.
If using LDAP/Active Directory log-in method, make sure those settings are properly configured.
If Google Drive says, "Unable to authenticate.Please check the network configuration and connection or contact you system administrator."
or, the app tries to launch but reverts back to the Home Screen then:
Verify the correct HTTP Proxy IP Address is set. Location:Settings > Network/Portsand then look under HTTP/FTP Settings.
Verify and confirm that no firewalls are blocking HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
