Affected Products:

Color: CX820, CX825, CX827, CX860, XC6152, XC6153, XC8155, XC8160, XC8163

Issue Description:

When scanning or copying any narrow sized media on the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), an intermittent issue occurs such as:

  • 282.15 paper jam

  • Stretched images

  • Images shifted vertically on the scanner

The common media types where this is usually observed are A5, B5, JIS-B5, Statement, Executive and Universal which is less than 7" wide. This issue also occurs when feeding the media on the ADF in short-edge orientation.

Explanation:

When media less than 7" wide is fed into the ADF, any of the issues mentioned can occur due to some of the feed rollers not making contact and helping to drive the paper forward.

NOTE:

This is not a common issue, however, there is still a possibility that this will occur.

Recommendation:

One of the recommendations to avoid this issue is by trying to rotate the media and feeding it on the ADF in long-edge orientation. This will allow the media to contact all the rollers and provide better performance.
