Lexmark CS820 & CX82x ? How to Either Properly Turn Off the Printer or Put it into Sleep Mode

Overview

The following Lexmark printer models: CS820, C6160, CX820, CX825, CX860, XC6152, XC8155, & XC8160 now utilize a Soft Switch power button, the same button that you can use to put the printer into Sleep/Hibernate mode. This document will guide you on how to properly shut down the printer or set it into Sleep mode.

The soft switch power button also functions as the sleep/hibernate button.

NOTE:
The printer automatically goes into Sleep mode when not in use, and it reverts to an active state for incoming print jobs. Although the printer is not off when it is in Sleep mode, it only consumes less than 3.5 watts of energy.

Turning the printer off

StepAction
1

Press and hold the Power button while the printer is in Ready state (i.e., the Control panel LCD display is active and the indicator light is illuminated blue).

2

Release the Power button after five seconds.

3

A flashing amber LED then illuminates the Power button. The printer will turn off after the Power button stops flashing and is no longer illuminated.

IMPORTANT! When installing any options or performing any service to the printer, Lexmark highly recommends to also remove the power cord from the back of the printer after completion of the steps described above.

Putting the printer into Sleep mode

Tap the Power button once while the printer is in Ready state (i.e., the Control panel LCD display is active and the indicator light is illuminated blue).

Note:
In Sleep mode, the power button is illuminated by a solid (i.e., non-flashing) amber LED.

2

To bring the printer out of Sleep mode, tap the power button once more. This will revert the printer back to its Ready state.
