Step | Action |
1 | Clear all Cache and History on ALL browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc.) found on the MVE server. Notes:
- Internet Explorer8 has an issue with Generic File Download. It does not recognize the Javascript and fails to upload or download the file.
- Generic File Download does not work in the Safari browser running on Windows.
Verify whether Generic File Download works after performing the step above. If not, proceed with next step. |
2 | Go to your printer’s embedded web server ( EWS) > Settings > Security > TCP/IP Port Access, and make sure the following ports are turned ON, then Submit changes: a. TCP 21 (FTP) b. UDP 69 (TFTP) c. UDP 5353 (MDNS) d. TCP 5000 (XML) e. TCP 6110/UDP 6100/TCP 6100f. TCP 9500/TCP 9501 (NPAP) |
3 | On the printer’s EWS, go to Settings > Network/Ports > TCP/IP > and place a check on Enable FTP/TFTP, then Submit changes. |
4 | On the printer’s EWS, go to Settings > Security > Security Setup > Access Controls, set the following, and then Submit changes: a. Under Management, select No Security for Firmware Updates. b. Under Function Access, select No Security for FTP Function. Note: If these settings are secured, make sure MVE security policies have the proper credentials in order to access the device remotely.
Verify whether Generic File Download works after performing the steps above. If not, proceed with next step. |
5 | Make sure Printer Lockdown option is disabled. Secured devices are those printers that are locked down or restricted via the EWS > Settings > Security > Security Setup > Basic or Advanced Security Setup.
Note: The Generic File Download task is not available when the Printer Lockdown option is enabled. |
6 | Try turning the FirewallOFF on the MVE server. Verify whether Generic File Download works after performing the step above. If not, proceed with next step. |
7 | Make sure that the MVE server has enough disk space. |
8 | When sending firmware to update a device, use the Firmware Update option of Generic File Download. Note: While firmware can be updated on raw print via port 9100, it is best to use the Firmware Update option.
|
9 | Delete and rediscover all your devices. |
10 | Set printers to Managed, and then run an Audit on these devices. |
