Lexmark MS911 or MX91x ? Service Engine Error Appears After Installing the Booklet Finisher

What you will see

After installing a standard or booklet finisher in a Lexmark MS911 or MX91x, the printer posts a Service Engine error.

Possible cause

This message might occur due to a piece of tape inside the booklet finisher that may not have been removed during unpacking. The remaining tape could cause a finisher component's motion to be impeded, thus resulting in a Service Engine error.

Suggested Remedy

During booklet finisher installation, make sure to remove all the packaging tape used to hold the components inside the finisher. The images below show the orange tape that was left inside the booklet finisher mechanism area.
