Unable to send RTF and TXT format files using Scan to Network folder setup

Printer has EC4 (P436) firmware…

The Rich Text Format (RTF) and TXT options are available in the Format drop-down list found on the embedded web server (EWS) – SettingsScan-to-Network Folder Setup*.

The scan output is always in PDF when you select either format.

Printer has EC3 (P328) firmware…

The RTF and TXT options are NOT available in the Format drop-down list.

Any of the available options are working as designed.

NOTE:

Access the printer EWS by typing the printer IP address into the URL field of your browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari).
For example, enter http://MFP_IP_Address, where MFP_IP_Address is the IP address of the printer.

Explanation

Both RTF and TXT options should only be available on printers that support Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

The Lexmark MX310 and CX310 printers do not support OCR; therefore, those options are not supported and are removed in the PE Release code indicated below.

Recommended solution

Update the printer’s firmware to PE Release code P480 or higher.
