Blank printout check

Issue description

The resulting printout is blank.

The most common causes of blank printout are:

The recommendations listed below are to correct continuous blank pages.

Solution

Check the printer's supply status

  1. Check the printer's supply status from the home screen by touching Status/Supplies > View Supplies.

Note:  For MS310, the following light combinations represent a cartridge low message:

    • Cartridge low:
      - On,
      - On
    • Cartridge very low:
      - On,
      - On,
      - Slowly blinking

  2. Replace the print cartridge if the toner is low or empty. Try printing with a different cartridge should one be available.

  3. Should the above the recommendations not address the issue, please proceed with the subsequent section.

Check the Imaging Unit

  1. Open the printer's front door and remove the Toner as well as the Imaging unit. Check whether all packaging materials (red separator strap) have been removed from both sides of the Imaging unit. Reinstall all supplies and make sure that they are all seated properly.

The image here shows how an Imaging Unit should look with the packaging materials still included.

  2. Run a test page. Proceed with the next step should the defect persist. Otherwise, the issue is resolved.

  3. If you have a known working printer of similar model, try switching the Imaging unit and determine whether the defect stays or if it follows the working printer.

Should defect follow the known working printer, replace the Imaging unit. Otherwise, proceed with the next section.

Check the Developer output

Blank printout could also result if the developer output is stuck in retracted position as seen here.

This print quality defect can be easily corrected by manually re-positioning the developer output. The steps below will guide you through the process.

  1. Remove the supplies. Click here for an illustration.

  2. Reach inside the printer and manually re-position the developer output in the direction of the red arrow as shown in this image. You will feel a slight release from the developer output when the position is corrected.

  3. This illustration shows the developer output in correct position. If the procedure is done properly, the blank pages should never occur again.

Note:  Should the above the recommendations not address the issue, please contact Lexmark Technical Support to set up printer service.
