Messy Output Stack in the Standard Exit Bin

What you will see

The printed pages do not stack properly in the standard exit bin. See the sample image below.

Suggested Remedy

Here are some actions that you can perform in order to minimize or avoid the likelihood of getting a messy output stack:

  1. Make sure the printer supports the media that you are using. Check whether your media meets all recommendations in the Lexmark Cardstock and Label Guide.

  2. Make sure the media is stored properly in a low-humidity environment.

  3. Keep the paper sealed in its original packaging and remove it only when you are ready to use it.

  4. If the paper stack has been seated in the tray for some time, remove it, flip it over, and then put it back into the tray.

  5. Make sure the printer is used in a supported environment. Do not operate the printer where it can be exposed to higher than normal levels of humidity.

  6. To avoid the paper being pushed onto the floor, pull or lift the paper output bin extender.

Recommendation for stiff or heavy media

Especially stiff or heavy media may have degraded stack quality. Stack quality will be degraded if the media is too stiff for the exit rolls to corrugate the media.

Little corrugation in stiff media

Try to utilize a High-capacity Output Expander (if available) to avoid having a messy stack when you are using heavy or stiff media.

Good corrugation in high-capacity expander results in better stacking when using heavy or stiff media.

NOTE:
Check the printer’sUser Guideto verify whether the High-Capacity Expander supports the media.

Should issue still persist after following the above recommendations, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.
