843.15 elevator motor stall failure

Overview

The printer posts the error code 843.15 – The ADF elevator tray has stalled. This type of error code can be encountered on lower versions of the printer firmware. If the firmware version running in your device is lower than base code P132 and engine E215, Lexmark recommends updating the firmware to the latest version to maintain proper printer operation.

Solution

1. Restart the device and check whether the error re-appears. If the error clears, proceed with Step 3 to update the printer firmware with the latest level. Otherwise, continue with the next step.



2. If the error did not clear, first set the printer to Invalid Engine Code status. To do this:

   

   1. Power off the printer.

   

   2. Press and hold the buttons: 3 + 4 + 6 (E + N + G).

   

   3. Power on the printer and release the buttons after ten seconds.

   

   4. Once restarted, the printer must post 'Invalid Engine Code'.



3. Download the latest firmware for your printer. To do so, follow the steps outlined in this article.



4. After downloading the firmware, proceed with any of the methods below to perform the update.

   Note:  Updating the firmware resolves this type of error code. If you have the latest code installed and the error persists, or you are having difficulties updating the printer's firmware, contact Lexmark Technical Support.
