A Scan Profile and/or VNC Viewer Security Warning Message Appears After Updating to Java Version 7 Update 45 and/or 51 or Later

What you will see

The Security Warning message "The connection to this website is untrusted" displays when using Scan Profile and/or VNC Viewer for the Remote Operator Panel via the embedded web server (EWS). This happens after updating to Java version 7, update 45 and/or later. See sample image below.

Explanation

Some security changes were implemented in the latest version of the Java code; consequently, this requires revising some property settings in the Scan Profile JAR file.

NOTE:
Lexmark uses Java JAR files and the host computer needs the Java client installed in order to run the Scan Profile application.

Recommended action

First, update your printer's firmware to the latest PE release code available. Then, depending on how the Java settings on the host computer are configured, you may need to clear the cache to enforce the use of the new applet in the updated firmware. To do so:

a. Go to the Start > All Programs, locate the Java folder, and then click on Configure Java. b. Under General tab, click Settings... under Temporary Internet Files. c. Click on Delete Files..., make sure all files are selected, and then click OK.

NOTE:
The recommendations above will not suppress the warning message. The security warning above is expected and will only show onceper scanning session.
