How to install and configure embedded Lexmark Services Monitor (eLSM)

Issue Description:

Lexmark Services Monitor (LSM) is the “Meter Read” tool that can be configured to send data to the dealer’s Lexmark Fleet Tracker MSP rollup server.

This application allows clients to perform quick, on-site assessments and monitor printing, alerts, and messages from networked printers.

When this is installed or embedded in a printer, it is known as embedded Lexmark Services Monitor (eLSM). The printer application in which this application is embedded performs the role of a data collector.

Installation

To install the app, you must first access vsc.lexmark.com.

NOTE: Please contact your Lexmark representative if you do not have your login information.

  1. Once logged in on VSC, click New Deployment.

  2. Select Location or create a new one, then click Next.

  3. Select the application under Tracking and Accounting tab.

  4. Look for Lexmark Fleet Manager eLSM.

  5. Follow the instructions to download and deploy the application to the printer. Once Installation/Deployment is complete, continue with configuring the eLSM.

Configuration

Editing Configurations:

  1. Access the printer's embedded web server (EWS). Go to Settings > Apps > Apps Management > Lexmark Services Monitor.

  2. Click on the Configure tab, then fill every field with the correct information. Make sure that you have checked the Web Interface Enable and Administration Interface Enable,then apply the settings.

    Note:The Administration tab will not be available on the Lexmark Services Monitor Application if Administration Interface Enable is not enabled.

  3. The main printer details panel shows information about your various discovered print servers. You can access this by following the these two steps:

    1. Access EWS and select Applications.

    2. Click the Lexmark Services Monitor icon.

The information shown includes manufacturer, model, serial number, location, page count, and status

Accessing the Administration Tab:

  1. Access the printer's embedded web server (EWS). Go to Applications > Lexmark Services Monitor > Administration tab.

  2. The Administration tab gives you the options to Test Rollup Connection, Start Full Rollup, Start Discovery, and Start Poll. This is also where you can test the E-mail Setup and Proxy Settings. To re-initialize the eLSM settings, there’s a button to Initialize all LSM data files at the bottom.

Accessing the Print Server Detailed Report:

The Print Server Detailed Report page provides information regarding the printer, including the printer ports, supplies, inputs and outputs. Access it by clicking on a specific print server under the Network Printers section of eLSM.

Accessing the Summary Report:

To check current Status, go to Summary. The summary report shows the last time discovery, polling, and rollup occurred.

Entering Company Information:

The Configuration report shows the settings that are used to tune the software to a particular site.

Using the Auto Update Feature:

eLSM has an auto-update feature that checks the Activation Server for an available software update once per week. If an update is available, it is downloaded and the software is updated.

Follow the steps to use the auto update feature:

  1. Access the printers EWS.

  2. Select Settings from the navigation menu.

  3. Under Other Settings: go to Apps >Device Solutions >Embedded Solutions.

  4. Click on Lexmark Services Monitor.

  5. Go to the Configure tab.

  6. Scroll down, then click on the Choose File button on the Auto Update row.

  7. Browse and choose the Auto Update settings text file (.txt), then click Apply.

Exporting Data:

  1. Select Export from the top navigation bar.

  2. Choose the data format you want to export, CSV or XML.

  3. Select what information you want to include in the export. You can choose one or more than one type of data by selecting the check boxes beside Meters, Current Volumes, and Saved Volumes.

  4. Click Export Data.
