Non-repeating marks on the back side of the page check

Issue description

Unwanted spots or streaks of toner that appear on the back of the printed page can be caused from a contamination inside the fuser to a physical problem with the printer.

This article helps confirm the problem. Please refer to the following steps to determine which hardware part is causing the issue.

Solution

  1. Check to see whether the printer supports the paper being used and that it meets all recommendations listed in the User’s Guide.

  2. Make sure that the Paper Type Setting on the printer and in the driver/software matches the type of paper loaded in the tray.

  3. Run the Fuser Cleaning Process (see the subsequent steps) to allow the fuser to clean itself. The toner streaking should fade away over time.

Fuser Cleaning Process

  1. Boot the printer to its Configuration Menu. To do this:

    1. Power OFF the printer.

    2. For CS310

      For CS410, CS510, CX310, CX410, CX510

      • Press and hold 2 & 6 buttons.
    3. Power ON the printer.

    4. Release the buttons after ten seconds.

  2. Scroll to "Fuser Cleaning Process".

  3. Select "Print Cleaning Pages".

    Note:  The "Print Cleaning" pages will print and have instructions on them to place the pages face down in Tray 1. Please follow these instructions before proceeding to the next step.

  4. Select "Start Cleaning Process." The printer will run the pages back through to help clean the fuser.

  5. Turn the printer off and back on (do not hold down any buttons).
