Edge background on pages

Overview

Splotches of random color print in areas that should not have them. These marks may not cover the entire page from left to right, but they usually do cover the page from top to bottom.

NOTE:
These splotches are not speckled or dotted; rather, the effect is a diffuse and cloudy appearance. See image sample below.

Troubleshooting

StepsActions
1

For a print quality defect of this type, it is always advisable to print the following:

  • Menu Settings Page (MSP) – To check the levels of the consumable supplies (i.e., items such as photoconductor units, developer units and imaging kit), because supplies that are low or near the end of their functional lives can cause various print quality issues independently of printer operation.

Note:
The User's Guide provides detailed instructions for navigating through the printer menus.

2 If the issue is still present, run Color Adjust by going to Menu >Settings >Print Settings >Quality Menu >Color Adjust.
3

Print another MSP and the original print job, to check whether the issue still occurs..

4

Should the issue persist after following the preceding recommendations, replace the developer unit of the color affected.

Note:
It is not necessary to send the entire imaging kit for this print quality issue.
