Resetting the maintenance kit counter

Issue description

Resetting the maintenance counter is no longer required on the color 2012 released printers. However, the printer’s fuser and transfer module counters still require resetting as these counters don't increment at the same rate as the Maintenance Kit counter.

Note:  The reset functions for the printer’s Fuser & transfer module life counters is found in the Diagnostics Menu.

Solution

How do the fuser and transfer module’s life relate to the Maintenance Kit level and messaging?

  • Fuser & transfer module life Counters (Reset functions in the Diagnostics Menu):
    • Displays OK always.
    • May cause the printer to stop when the life reaches twice the normal life.
  • Maintenance Kit Counter (No reset function):
    • Represents the lower count of either the fuser or transfer module life.
    • Cannot be reset independently, but goes back to OK when both the fuser and transfer module counters are reset.
    • If either the fuser or transfer module counter is reset, the Maintenance counter reflects the lower count of either the fuser or the transfer module's remaining life.
