Lexmark CX/CS8xx and XC/Cxxxx: How to Configure The Envelope Feeder's Tray Settings for Use with Custom Size Envelopes

Affected Products:

Single-Function: CS820, CX820, CX825, CX860, C6160, XC6152, XC8155 and XC8160

Multifunction: CS820, CX820, CX825, CX860, C6160, XC6152, XC8155, XC6153, XC8160 and XC8163

Issue Description:

To print envelopes outside the supported sizes of 7.75, #9, #10, DL, C5 and B5, you will need to follow all the steps below.

ALL non-standard envelope sizes require the following printer and driver setting adjustments:

  • Tray 3 Size sensingOFF

  • Tray 3 Paper sizeOther Envelope

  • Creation and selection of a custom page size via driver and application


The envelope option requires thetray 3 position.


Step 1: Turn 'OFF' tray 3 size sensing

  1. Using the control panel, touch Settings > Device > Maintenance > Configuration Menu > Tray Configuration > Size Sensing > Tray 3 (Envelope Feeder).

  2. Toggle the setting to OFF.

  3. Save this setting by touching the Home button or Back button.

Step 2: Change paper size to 'Other Envelope'

  1. Navigate to Settings > Paper > Tray Configuration > Paper Size/Type.

  2. Scroll down to Tray 3 and select Other Envelope.

  3. Again, touch the Home button or Back button to save.

Step 3: Configure the driver and application

Make sure Paper Type is set to envelope.
