What you will see
The printed pages show a mark repeating at 72.4 mm (2.85 inches) intervals down the page, (these marks are also visible on the outside margin area). In the example image below, the measurement is done from center to center of the mark.
Possible cause
A worn out or end-of-life photoconductor (PC) unit(s) typically causes this print defect. Since the photoconductor (PC) units are cylinders, measuring two exact points between each mark should be at 72.4 mm (2.85 inches) down the page.
NOTE: Same as with the toner cartridges, the PC units are consumable wear items that must be replaced at regular intervals.
Recommended solution
To resolve this type of print defect, the PC units should be replaced, particularly if it has already reached its maximum usage.
If the PC unit has reached its end-of-life, the printer will post an 84.31 or 84.34 message code informing end-users that the PC units need to be replaced. After installing brand new PC units, the printer must be manually reset in order to clear the 84.xx intervention message. See the instructions included in the PC unit package on how to do the manual reset.
IMPORTANT! The PC units do not have any memory or chips. Therefore, if the PC units were manually reset, without actually replacing them, the printer will eventually produce the defect pictured above.
