Lexmark C74x&X74x ? Continuous 'Close Top Cover' Message Will Not Clear From the Operator Panel

What you will see

'Close Top Cover' Message continuously appears and will not clear from the Operator Panel.

Possible cause

  • The top cover of the printer is not properly closed.
  • The clutch or drive component of the fuser is malfunctioning.

Power off the printer and open the front door.

Inspect the top cover for any signs of damage.

If the top cover has no damage, ensure that it is seated properly, and re-seat if necessary.

Close the front door and power on the printer.
