A '24x.50' Paper Jam Error Occurs When Using a 2000-Sheet Feeder Option on a Lexmark C73x, T65x, or X65x Series Printer ('x' = any number)

What you will see

The printer displays a 24x.50 (where 'x' can be any number) Paper Jam message when you print from the High Capacity Input Tray (HCIT) The HCIT, also known as a '2000-sheet feeder option', is highlighted with yellow in the image below.
NOTE:
The location and tray number of the HCIT may vary, depending upon the number of other paper trays installed on the printer.

Recommended actions

Paper incorrectly loaded into the HCIT is the most common cause of this issue. Follow the steps in the table below.

StepAction
1 Open the HCIT door and press the button to lower the elevator tray.
2 Remove all of the paper from the HCIT.
3

Carefully reload 50 to 100 sheets of paper back into the HCIT.

IMPORTANT! Before loading the stack of paper, make sure all edges of the stack are straight and even. Confirm that the stack of paper is pushed fully into the HCIT.

4

Close the door and wait for the tray to lift the paper to the top. Once the tray has stopped moving, try printing again.

  • - If no problems occur, add more paper and test the HCIT again. If the printer and the HCIT work correctly, continue using the printer as normal. Pay close attention to it for the next few days to see if the error returns.
  • - If the jamming messages continue or return at a later date, try printing from the standard paper tray (Tray 1). If the printer works correctly from Tray 1, a service action may be required on the HCIT. Contact Lexmark Technical Support for more information.

NOTE:
If you do narrow the source of the problem to the HCIT, you can continue to print from the other paper trays until a service action can be arranged.
