Creating a destination shortcut for the Scan to Network solution software

Issue description

This article provides basic information regarding the configuration of destination shortcuts with Scan to Network Folder (SNF).

This article is intended as a supplement to the Scan to Network Administrator's Guide.

Availability

You can obtain this MFP solution from Lexmark.com, and click here if you are unsure what version of this application is needed.

Note:  This embedded solution software does not replace the functionality of a network TWAIN driver. A network TWAIN driver will still be required for the MFP to scan to TWAIN-compliant applications.

Initial Set Up

Note:  You must confirm the following before attempting this procedure:

  • The solution is successfully installed on your MFP.
  • You have an active share on your computer.
  • If using a Guest account, make sure that this account is enabled on the computer operating system with full read and write permissions.

Solution

Example Scan to Network destination shortcut creation

Select one of four authentication types. These options allow for the application to authenticate the user with the share:

  1. Guest - No security

  2. Use MFP's authentication credentials.. The application uses the MFP's authentication credentials to gain access to the share.

  3. Prompt for username and password. The application displays a runtime prompt when the destination shortcut is selected. Entry of the correct username and password will then be required for access to the share.

  4. Use static username and password. Administrator knows the username and password to the share and wants all users to have access to the destination.
