Squeaking Noise Coming from the Left Side of the Multipurpose Feeder on a Lexmark T65x or X65x Series Printer

What you will hear

The printer produces an abnormal or excessively loud noise. This sound can occur every time you use the printer or it can occur intermittently. The noise is sometimes described as a high-pitched squealing, or squeaking, or a grinding noise. It emanates from the left-hand portion of the multi-purpose feeder (MPF) area, as shown in the image below.

NOTE:
Before performing any troubleshooting steps with the printer, please check the following;

  • A 230.05 paper jam is associated with the noise every time you try to print, or
  • The paper or printout's print appears to be crooked or skewed when duplexing (printing double-sided) on Page 1, which is the second pass through the fuser.

If the printer experiences the issues listed above along with a loud squeaking noise during printing, this issue normally requires a service call. For a detailed explanation, please

If the paper path inside the printer is clear, closely examine the inside area for any small pieces of debris stuck inside the printer.

Note:
Pay close attention to the rollers inside the printer. If a small piece of paper or other item wraps around a roller, it can cause a squeaking noise.
