Selecting 'Do Not Restore Jobs' Retains PKI Held Jobs on the Lexmark X954 MFP

What you will see

PKI held jobs remain after selecting Do not restore jobs and multiple reboots of the printer do not affect the removal of these jobs.

Products affected:

First discovered on a Lexmark X954 with the following installed apps:

  • PKI Authentication 4.0.14
  • PKI Held Jobs 4.0.11

Steps to reproduce

  1. Jobs stored on the printer for the pki held jobs.

  2. Reboot the printer.

  3. Select "Do not restore jobs"

  4. Jobs will start restoring...

Remedy

Download this .npa file to flush these held jobs.


NOTE:
This file can be sent to the printer using any printing protocol, but it cannot be sent from the Embedded Web Server's (EWS) Firmware Update feature.

Explanation

Unrestored held jobs not expiring is functioning as designed. The normal use-case scenario for ' Do Not Restore' is when you do not plan on printing the held jobs with the current hardware. For example, you might select this option if removing a paper tray or finisher that needs replaced and waiting for the new part to arrive. Afterwards, you can then restore and print the held jobs after hardware changes. Restore override

The request to remove or not restore jobs can be controlled by security settings that control the expiration of confidential jobs. For example, navigating to Settings > Security > Confidential Print Setup via the printer's web page.
