Frequent Stapler Jams are Occurring on a Lexmark T65x or X65x Series Printer

ENUS31478What You Will See

The printer repeatedly encounters problems whenever you employ the stapling feature on the staple option. In most cases, the printer displays a Stapler Jam message.

What The Error Means

The staple unit failed to staple the pages properly. In most cases, a staple has jammed in the staple cartridge.

Recommended Actions

Remove and check the staple cartridge. Confirm that there are no staples, small pieces of paper or other obstructions blocking the exit from the staple cartridge. For instructions on how to remove and check the staple cartridge, please refer to the printer's User's Manual. In addition, do not try to staple more than 50 sheets of paper at a time. IMPORTANT ! If the print media you are using is heavier than 20 lb or 75 g/(m^2), or is heavily textured, try stapling no more than 30 sheets at a time. If the area is free from obstructions, reinstall the staple cartridge and try printing again. If the issues continues, replace the existing staple cartridge with a new one. If you do not have another staple cartridge in stock, you can examine the existing staple cartridge in order to locate and remove any staples that may be stuck inside it.Try printing with plain copy paper if you are not already doing so. Do this before arranging a service call on the printer, even if the special media has worked in the past. This will eliminate any special media from being part of the cause of the issue. For more information on paper types that are recommended for use with the finisher option, please refer to theprinter's User's Man ual.If the issue continues after attempting all of the suggestions above, or if you require assistance in setting up warranty service, please contact Lexmark Technical Support.
