Auto-Document Feeder Falsely Senses Letter-Sized Paper as Legal Size

What you will see

Output paper size is incorrect when scan jobs are fed via Auto-Document Feeder.

Additional Identifiers

Additional identifiers that may indicate this problem:

  • Copy from setting is equal to auto size match.
  • Correct paper sizes are loaded in the trays.
  • A bright light source is near or above the device.

Suggested Checks and Possible Remedy

  1. Check that paper sizes listed on Menu Settings page match the true size of the paper loaded in individual trays.

  2. Check the ADF sensor for a build-up of paper dust or other obstructions. Clean as necessary.

  3. Make sure the ADF sensor light is illuminated. Shade the sensor with your hand and re-scan the job to see if there is a difference in the result.

  4. Move or shade the printer's ADF from bright overhead lights since the sensor is light sensitive.
