Fax number does not clear.
Some observed symptoms reported by users:
- - My fax number is sticking.
- - A person sending a fax after me witnesses their fax transmitting to both my recipient and their recipient.
- - The fax number not clearing in the first 3 seconds of going back into the fax screen.

*Anx denotes any number within a specific model series; e.g., X462, X464, X466, etc.
Suggested Remedy
A known firmware update addresses this issue.
Firmware update steps:
Obtain the MFP's current device firmware level.
Identify fix firmware for your MFP.
Look for the existence of any DLEs or special codes.
After calling Lexmark to obtain the firmware, follow any of the update procedures.
Step 1: Check Device Firmware Levels
Embedded Web Server (EWS) Method:
Open the printer's web page,
Click on Reports.
Click on Device Information.
Identify value next to Base.
Optionally, print the Menu Settings Page from the device. To do this, press Menus > Reports > Menus Settings Page and look under Device Information for the equivalent Base code value.
Step 2: Identify Fix Firmware
Contact Lexmark Technical Support to obtain .P316 or .P317 software code.

Step 3:DLEs and Special Firmware
Certain functions or applications may require special firmware. Warning! Make this information known to the call center agent and "do not" attempt to update the MFP firmware if the format of firmware number differs greatly from what is seen in the table just viewed.
Any MFP with any one of these following downloadable language emulators (DLE) may require special firmware versions:
- Bar Code
- IPDS
- Printcryption
- Forms
- Prescribe
- Imagequick
