No power issue

Issue description

When you turn the printer On, the machine doesn't respond and the operator panel does not light up.

Troubleshooting

Action

Check that AC line cord is securely connected to both the wall outlet and the back of the printer.

Ensure the power switch is turned on.

Ensure that particular wall outlet is good by trying some other electronic equipment functions when plugged into that same wall outlet.

Try another wall outlet, if possible.

Tap the touchscreen. If display lights-up, request firmware upgrade that includes this bug fix.

Note: The screen should never turn off while booting; i.e., you should see the status bar crawling.

Printer display temporarily goes black during initial power up for more information about this issue.

Replace the LVPS If display is dark or blank. if the cooling fans are running, proceed to step 2.

Remove printer's side cover on the controller card side.

Remove service door and check whether LED is lit.

  • If LED is not lit, unplug J10, power cable to Scanner controller card.
  • If LED lights, suspect issue with Scanner controller card or Front Panel Assembly.
  • If LED does not light on System Card with J10 removed, replace LVPS.

Check Voltages on System Card for 3.3 Volts.

  • If 3.3 Volts missing, replace System Card.

Check ribbon connectors between scanner controller card and controller card, replace if damaged.

Are LEDs lit on scanner controller card?

  • If not, replace scanner controller card.
  • If lit, try disconnecting J1 and J11. If panel lights, replace scanner controller card interface cable assembly.

Substitute in Front Panel Assembly; if the different Front Panel works, replace Front Panel.

If different Front Panel does not fix the issue, then replace scanner controller card.

Make sure that the printer is plugged in.

If the printer is still not powering up, check the power cord for continuity.

Replace the power cord if no continuity is detected.

Should the issue persist, check the AC line voltage to the machine. The voltage should be within the following limits:

  • 110 V machines - 100 to 127 V AC
  • 220 V machines - 200 to 240 V AC

When the voltage is within the limits, then proceed to step 5. If not, try a different outlet.

Check the voltages on the pins of the LVPS card and make sure it matches the following information:

  • +5V at pins 17 and 19
  • +24V at pins 11, 13, and 15

Replace the LVPS, if the voltages ae correct.
