Failure of 'Home Screen Customization' setting to 'Display' function icon

What you will see

After selecting Display for a particular function via Home Screen Customization, thefunction icon fails to be be displayed on the color touch screen.

What should be known

  • Adisabled functionwill causeselections made via the Home Screen Customization c onfiguration menu to be ignored.
  • Other setup configuration settings for thefunctionwill notbe available.
  • Youmust first enable the function/hardware through the Initial Setup Wizard, or access control,before you can add or remove function icons viaHome Screen Customization.

This exampleprovides guidanceforuserswho are unable to the get the icon to appear on theHOME screen.Check thefollowing threeprocedures or variables that control th e visibilityof afunction icon:

  • -Home Screen Customization
  • - Initial Setup
  • - Access Control

Procedure 1: Verify your selection via "Home Screen Customization"

  1. Click on Menus.

  2. Click (right arrow button) next to Settings.

  3. Click (right arrow button) next to General Settings.

  4. Press arrow button until Home Screen Customization is displayed.

  5. Click(right arrow button) next to Home Screen Customization.

  6. Press (down arrow button) until function of interest is displayed.

  7. Confirm that it shows Display next to the function.If not, use right or left arrows to switch fromDo Not Display toDisplay.

  8. Press Submit.

Procedure 2: Initial Setup

NOTE: If the iconstillfails to display, perform the following:

  1. From the operator panel, select Menus > Settings > General Settings > Run InitialSetup > Select Yes> Submit, and thenreboot the MFP.Optionalembedded web server:Settings >General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Submit, and then reboot the MFP.

  2. Follow setupsteps through Language, Country, Time Zone until you reachFunctions to Enable.

  3. Place a checkmark next tothe FAXfunction or function of interest.

  4. Click Continue,and then finish the initial setup.

Procedure 3: Access Control Activation

  1. Click on Menus.

  2. Click on Security.

  3. Click Edit Security Setups.

  4. Click Edit Access Controls.

  5. Scroll to the function of interest,andthen verify thatstatus showsEnabled.

  6. If necessary, change the value to Enabled, and then clickSubmit.
