How to upgrade new Embedded Solutions Framework (eSF) applications for Lexmark Print Management (LPM-SaaS and LPM-Serverless)

Overview

New Print Release and Card Authentication eSF applications have been released for LPM-SaaS and LPM-Serverless solutions app.

Previously, the following applications were deployed for the two solutions app:

  • For LPM-Serverless: Card Authentication and LPM Serverless Print Release
  • For LPM-SaaS: Cloud Authentication Client, eSF Security Manager, Background and Idle Screen, Lexmark Print Release Cloud

Moving forward, both LPM-SaaS and LPM-Serverless will only be using Card Authentication and Print Release applications.

Features newly added

The Print Release and Card Authentication eSF applications now have:

  • PIN Support
  • Identity Service
  • PIN settings
  • Network and Socket timeouts
  • Serverless Print Release Setting is removed from Card Authentication App and moved to Print Release App

How to upgrade apps

Perform the following recommended steps to ensure a successful application upgrade.

LPM-Serverless:

Export or write down current Card Authentication and Serverless Print Release application settings. You may refer to the application’s Admin guide or use the document IDs Exporting and importing user-defined configuration settings (2008 and 2010 released printers) and Exporting or importing the Virtual Configuration Center (VCC) Bundle.ZIP configuration file (2012 released printers) for the steps in exporting the current configuration or application settings.

Make sure to uninstall the Card Authentication v1.1.11 or prior version before installing the new app.

Deploy the new Card Authentication (version v2.10.8 or later) and Print Release (version v2.0.8 or later) to printers.

Manually configure the Card Authentication and Print Release apps using the settings exported or saved as instructed in Step 1.

Note: The entire suite of settings is applicable in configuring the printer.

Important! Importing the exported .ucf configuration file will not work. You need to manually configure the settings for the apps.

Stop the Background and Idle Screen app that uses a card authentication. Then restart the app after the configuration.
