Lexmark X950

Oversaturation of one color check

Overview

When printing a composite gray scale image or light coverage fill on a Lexmark C950, X950, X952, or an X954, the print outputs show oversaturation. The printer seems to work properly out-of-box, but over time, it develops the oversaturation issue.

Troubleshooting

Steps

Actions

1

If the issue is in low coverage process gray (the most noticeable case), change the color science intent setting in the driver. For more information, please see Color Science Intents below.

2

If issue is in non process gray, then adjust the mid-tone corrections in the driver tab. For more information please see Color Mid-tones below.

3

Power off the printer and open the front access door. After 30 seconds or more, power on the printer again and wait until the printer posts to close the front door access.

Note: Doing this forces a more advanced color calibration cycle. Usually, performing this operation three – five times will make a slight change to the density.

4

If issue persists, replace the Photoconductor Unit (PCU). This forces a reset of the system and the new coating of the PC drum will make it easier for the printer to detect the subtle variation in the lower coverage fills.

Note: If further assistance is needed, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local authorized service provider to arrange a service call.
