Copying Mixed Sizes on the Lexmark X85xe, X86xe, X94xe,&X95x Series Multifunction Printer

Overview

It looks like the ADF is doing a Duplex Copy (Pick-A-Boo) when Mixed Sizes is selected, even if simplex copies are requested.

Reason

The printer has to register what paper size each sheet is before it scans the page. Therefore, it pulls the sheet through to find the paper size, flips it over, and then flips it over one more time in order to scan it.

Possible Issues

  • If you load mixed sizes, legal and letter, into the ADF and set Copy from to legal, you would get a paper jam because one of the pages would be too short-based on the settings you chose, thus getting a 295.xx error.
  • If you load mixed sizes, legal and letter, into the ADF and set Copy from to letter, you will not get any error, but the image of the legal size documents will be cutoff.
  • If you choose auto size settings in copy from, you will not get any error either, but the printer will only register the larger paper size. In the case of legal and letter loaded both together in the ADF, the printer would only register the legal size, thus printing all documents into a legal-size paper.
