How to Enable Automatic Population of the Reply Address in Scanned E-Mails

ENUS13680

Overview

This article details how to enable automatic population of the Reply: address when using the scan to email function.

Procedure

To enable automatic population of the Reply: address field when NT authentication is being used, set the MFP's default Reply: address to the following:

$u@EMAILDOMAIN.COM

Thus, when a user logs into the MFP, the Reply: address field on all e-mail scanned by that user will be populated as follows:

<userid>@EMAILDOMAIN.COM

where <userid>is the login name used to authenticate the MFP user. For example, if the login name used for authentication is JSMITH, the Reply: address field will be populated with the e-mail address JSMITH@ EMAILDOMAIN.COM.

NOTE:This process assumes that the MFP is already configured for scanning to email. If you need assistance in setting up the MFP for this functionality, refer to .

IMPORTANT

Device Exception

On older models, this function cannot be associated with eSF security setup because these models does NOT have "security templates". This is functioning as designed. When using badge authentication or screen authentication such as in a print release environment, users will have to "double login". See list of printer models below:

Product FamilyModels
X64xX642, X644, X646
X77xX772
X78xX782
X85xX850, X852, X854
X94xX940, X945

Suggested remedy

The only way for this parameter to work in older devices is the “double authentication” method. Double authentication means; you will have to swipe your badge to authenticate to device, and then authenticate to the chosen App once again. For example, to access scan to email:

1. You have to swipe your badge (1st authentication),

2. Press Email, and then you will be asked to enter your LDAP credentials (2nd authentication).
