The toner spill is usually found on the printer’s front door area.
Cause
The cartridge is designed to let the toner fall into the printer through a shutter. The opening and closing of the shutter controls the amount of toner that gets in. Since the cartridge feeds toner into the system by gravity, the shutter leakage cannot be avoided.
Recommendation
It is recommended to remove the toner cartridge only when the printer gives the signal to replace it.
If there is a need to remove the toner cartridge from the printer, place it over a sheet of paper or over a wastepaper basket to collect any loose toner. Do not shake a full or non-empty cartridge.
If the toner leak is severe inside the printer, call Lexmark Technical Support.
WARNING! Exercise care when handling a leaking toner cartridge. If any of the toner comes in contact with your clothing, the best way to remove it is to wash it off with cool or cold water. Do not try to scrub the toner out.
