What this error means
An Invalid Engine Code error indicates a problem with one of the printer's internal operating programs. The printer will not be able to receive and process print jobs until it is reset. Follow the instructions in 'Reset the Printer' below.
NOTE: In some cases, the code on the printer may have become corrupted. In such situations, resetting the printer will not resolve the issue. The engine code will need to be re-flashed to the printer. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.
Troubleshooting
The following procedure provides instructions on how to Reset The Printer.
Step | Action |
1 | Simply resetting the printer may restore it to a working condition. If you have not yet done so, power off the printer. Wait one minute or longer, and then power it back on. While the printer boots up, listen for any fan turning or motors to start moving. Note: While the printer is off, please clear any un-printed jobs that are currently in the software/network queue.
|
2 | If the Invalid Engine Code error returns on power up or when you try to print, the printer's engine code will need to be rewritten. Note: It may be possible for you to upload an engine code file to the printer without having the printer serviced. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support to obtain this code.
