This article covers the troubleshooting if one color is light or missing.

Solution

Printing the Quality Test pages should identify which color is missing. Once the toner has been verified working then replacing the Transfer Belt Module (TBM) or High-Voltage Power Supply (HVPS) should resolve the issue.

Overview

The images below compare printer test pages. The first-row examples show the standard result. The second-row images show that the Yellow color is not printing at all.

This issue can be caused by a low or defective toner cartridge, or a malfunctioning Transfer Belt Module (TBM).

To narrow down the possible cause of the issue, print the Quality Test pages and compare the result with the examples in the first row above. Follow the appropriate steps below to print the test pages.

For a Lexmark C73x printer:a. Power off the printer.b. Press and hold the

Check the first page of the quality test result. Look for the Cartridge Information. Click here to see where to find it in the page. Is the toner level less than 20 percent?

Yes: Replace the Toner Cartridge.

No: Proceed to the next step.

Remove the toner cartridge from the printer. Shake the cartridge rigorously back and forth several times, and then reinstall it. Do Step 1 and check the result. Did the result improve?

Yes: Issue resolved. It is possible that the toner is not evenly distributed in the reservoir.


NOTE:
If issue persists after printing a couple of pages, replace the toner cartridge. Do this even if the toner status shows that it is still sufficient. It is possible that the cartridge itself is defective. You may also contact Lexmark Technical Support to verify your options for toner replacement.
