Entering 'Invalid Engine Code' state to allow firmware updates

Issue description

‘Invalid Engine Code’ and other service errors prevent the printer's ability to accept firmware updates. This device behavior is normal since accepting any file type requires the printer to be in a Ready state.

Solution

Manually force the printer into an 'Invalid Engine Code' state. This allows the printer to accept firmware files regardless of the intervention message or error displayed on the printer's control panel. Next, contact Lexmark Technical Support to obtain the latest code, and if necessary, acquire further code update instructions.

1. Turn off the printer.



2. Hold down the 3, 4, and 6 buttons and turn on the device.



3. Release the buttons after 15 seconds or until Invalid Engine code displays on the printer's control panel.



4. Resend the firmware flash file.
