Loose Toner Condition Related to Fuser and Paper Weight on the Lexmark C73(n*) and X73(n*) Series Color Laser Printers

What you will see

Toner fuse grade is not up to expectations when using #28 lb.or heavier paper. This may effect print quality and may cause toner to rub off of the page.

Affected Products (n*)

C73x series printers and X73x series MFPs.

Anxdenotes any number within a series; e.g., X734.

Suggested Remedy

On the printer, change the Plain Paper Weight setting to Heavy. You will find this setting under the Paper Menu.

NOTE:
For card stock and labels, simply change the Paper Type to Card Stockor Labels. These two settings automatically adjust printer temperatures for heavier types of media. It is not recommended that you set Paper Type to Plain. However, you can set the Card Stock and Label Weight to Heavy if necessary.

Explanation

The recommended range for what is considered normal weight paper is 20 to 24 lbs. Printing on 'heavy weight' media does increase the potential for toner to not completely adhere to the page. This results in print quality issues.
