How to use the Service Restore Tool to retrieve previously deployed licenses

Overview

This article may prove useful if customers cannot retrieve their app license for unexpected reasons.

Retrieving an app license

  1. Log into the Service Restore Tool.

  2. Enter the Serial Number and click Submit.

  1. Uncheck Include Firmware, and click Submit.

  1. Save the Service-Restore-Tool < Serial Number > .zip file to a specified download directory.

  2. Extract the primary Service-Restore-Tool < Serial Number > .zip file without extracting the individual .zip files.

  1. Double-click on each individual .zip file to view its contents to locate which bundle.zip file(s) contains a license (license.lic) file.
    NOTE:
    Some files contain the app (.fls) file, while others contain only settings (.xml) files or license files.

In this example, 82M0097-006.zip is the license bundle containing the license.lic file.

Redeploying the license(s)
  1. Open the printer's EWS; i.e., http://printers_IP_Address.

  2. Click Apps > Import configuration.

  3. Browse to the license bundle; i.e., 82M0097-006.zip.

  4. Click Import.
