What you will see

The printer stops printing and displays a Service Fuser error.

In most cases, a 920925 numeric error code accompanies the message. An example would be a 920.01 Service Fuser message.

NOTE:
E260 model printers have a set of LEDs in place of a readable operator panel. Every service error like this is signified by all of the lights flashing. To determine if this service error is a fuser error, press the

button twice quickly when all the lights are flashing. If the issue is a fuser error, the
and
lights should now be the only ones blinking.

Clearing the error

If this is the first time you have seen the error, power off the printer. Leave the printer powered off for ten seconds or more to give it a chance to reset. Then, power on the printer again. If the printer goes to the 'Ready' state, try printing again. If the fuser error does not return, continue using the printer. Pay close attention to the printer over the next few days to see if the fuser error returns.

If the fuser error returns when the printer is powered up or when you try to print again, continue with the suggestions below.

Check the power source

Confirm that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not through a surge device or power strip. If the printer is not directly plugged into a wall outlet, power the printer off and plug it directly into the wall.

Perform this test even if the printer has been working correctly in the past with this surge device. Power strips and uninterrupted power supplies can cause a low amperage problem, which can trigger a false fuser error. This is especially important if the fuser error occurs intermittently.

You may also want to try plugging the printer into a different wall outlet before seeking service and see if the fuser error continues. This will eliminate the power source as a possible cause for the issue.

If the error continues

If the fuser error continues to occur, the printer may require service to correct the issue. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance.

When contacting Lexmark for assistance with your printer, please be prepared to describe the problem you are experiencing and any troubleshooting steps already taken. You will also need to know the printer's machine (model) type and serial number (SN). This information can be found on one of two labels. One label is located on the inside of the front cover, and the other label is on the back of the printer. for further details.

NOTE:

When calling Lexmark Technical Support, please call from near the printer in case the technician on the phone asks you to perform a troubleshooting task on the printer.
